Richard Bourgon, Ph.D.
Senior Vice President, Computational Science
Richard Bourgon, Ph.D., is Senior Vice President of Computational Science at Freenome, in charge of the computational biology, machine learning, and research software engineering functions. Richard leads the teams leveraging cell-free circulating biomarkers, a multiomics assay platform, machine learning, and clinical data to implement accurate and robust diagnostic algorithms suitable for use in regulated in vitro diagnostic products.
Prior to joining Freenome in 2020, Richard led the Oncology Bioinformatics group at Genentech. There, he oversaw basic and translational research focused on cancer immunology, immunotherapy, and the mechanism of oncogenesis and drug resistance, with an emphasis on genomic and other high-dimensional biological data analysis.
Richard holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Brown University, and a Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley.
